Web Safe Color Combinations

"Web Safe" Website Color Combination Samples...

"Web Safe" colors are those that look the same on most computer monitors including older computer monitors, newer monitors using "accelerated browsers," laptops, cellphones, and PDAs.

The following "web-safe" color combination samples below are adapted from the color scemes in the book, "Color Harmony". Remember that different colors invoke different moods. Think about the image/mood you want your colors to project. Another great resource for combining "web-safe" colors is Visibone - Webmaster's 216-Color Laboratory website.

Tip: Take pieces of construction paper and lay them out on a neutral grey background to see how you like different colors together. Or color splotches with crayons on white paper. Then, you can share your color ideas with your web designer.

Color Harmony - by Hideaki Chijiiwa

This book provides a basic introduction to color theory. It divides colors into six broad categories: warm, cool, light, dark, vivid and dull. Each category is illustrated with a color photograph. The photographs and color combinations in the Color Schemes section will show you how to create a color scheme that's striking, tranquil, exciting, natural, warm, cold, young, feminine or surprising
